Angye Fox is the founder of the Ash Wednesday Cigar Club in Tampa, Florida USA. She began this cigar social group to encourage her lady friends to become educated about cigars and learn an appreciation for the cigar tobacco leaf.

The group has grown to over 500 members consisting of both ladies and gentlemen. They meet every first Wednesday of the month at a Tampa Bay area cigar lounge. www.AshWednesdayCigarClub.com.

Angye also is the host of the lifestyle talk show FoXXXy Forum. www.FoXXXyForum.com. At the end of every show, Angye enjoys a fine hand-rolled cigar and cocktail with her co-host Mark Williams “Big Papi” in a segment they call the Happy Ending.

1)when did you start to smoke cigar?

My love affair with hand-rolled cigars began at the age of 26 years old. I moved from the freezing cold temperatures of Green Bay, Wisconsin to sunny Tampa, Florida that year. I wandered into a cigar shop called Metropolitan Cigars on 7th Ave. in Ybor. The aroma of rich cigar tobacco permeated the air. I picked up a Fuente Hemingway Classic. The tobacconist guided me how to cut, toast, light and then puff and rotate the cigar. The Fuente was absolutely delicious. I was hooked forever more!

2)why did you start to smoke cigar?

My grandfather, Donald, smoked cigarettes for years. I was always curious why he loved them so much. I tried a cigarette once and thought it was the most awful thing in the world! How could anyone enjoy something so disgusting? Cigars smelled different. So I decided as a young adult to give them a try. I was pleasantly surprised that they tasted as fabulous as their scent.

3)how many cigars do you smoke during the day?

I’ve been smoking cigars for almost twenty years now and enjoy several cigars every week. To expand my palate, I try at least one new cigar every time I visit a cigar lounge or tobacco store.

4)which is the best place you have smoked a cigar?

By far and away the most romantic place I’ve ever smoked a cigar was in Havana, Cuba. Women in Cuba love to smoke cigars and you see them enjoying cigars everywhere. Plus, many of the women work in the cigar factories. I’ve visited Havana, Cuba three times in 2015 and I’m planning a Ladies Only Trip from Tampa, Florida to Havana, Cuba May 29-June 5, 2016. Looking for cigar-loving ladies to join me!

5)what do you use to cut the cigar?

Depends on the cigar. Sometimes a double guillotine cutter is best and at other times I prefer a punch. If a cutter is not available, I just flick off the tip with my long finger nails!

6)how do you feel while you are smoking?

Smoking a cigar is like taking a mini vacation for me. I’m the owner of a successful residential and commercial real estate company in Florida as well as handling the day to day operations of a digital ad agency. My workdays can be very intense and demanding! So smoking a cigar helps me relax and clear my thoughts. A cigar truly is a pleasure stick.

7)when do you light your first cigar of the day?

I’m an avid golfer, so if I’m out on the links early in the morning, you can bet I’ll have a cigar in my hand. It definitely helps me relax and concentrate on my golf game. Plus smoking cigars is wonderful camaraderie with my playing partners.

8)what is the cigar for you?

The cigar for me is medium-bodied with a lot of sexy peppery spice! I love spicy foods…the hotter the better. So naturally I love cigars that make my tongue tingle!

Angye it was a real pleasure talk with you about cigars. Thank you very much for your time.

Good ashes!
