“Cigars and Gentlemen„

157/267

Monday 14th July at the Hotel Mediterraneo in Rome, I went to a dinner in matching cigar and rum. They asked me to do as rapporteur, and I gladly accepted.

My friend Gianni started talking about the Toscano cigar, I about the Cuban. As usual, when I start talking about cigars, I lose track of time. A thousand thoughts crowded my mind. Speaking to an audience of neophytes, having little time, I did not know where to start. So I followed the current. I answered a question from them and I was a raging river.

At the end of my talk, a gentleman approached me and said that I had made him a great desire to smoke a cigar. I could not get a better compliment!

After an hour of small talk, form the meeting room we moved to the hotel’s roof garden, on the tenth floor.
A charming terrace. I have yet to find a bad terrace in the center of Rome. The spectacle offered by my city is always fantastic.

The dinner was beginning and I could not wait to smoke. More than once I was tempted to light a cigar then I braked.

The dinner was very nice about the company of my guests. All true gentlemen. I was proud to be there in their midst. The weather was perfect for a memorable cigar smoke.

After dinner, I went around the tables to distribute and to light cigars. For the occasion, I had chosen the robusto, a medium size is also suitable for those who usually do not smoke cigars.

I had with me two bottles of rum Santiago de Cuba 12 years old, a product designed specifically for pairing cigars and rum. Many of the attendees asked me where they could buy rum Santiago de Cuba I told them, they could do it from the website.

After five minutes, all present were excited about the cigars and rum. A person I was very impressed. It was the first time he smoked a cigar and just finished smoking, he asked another.

This evening was further confirmation that the cigar combines. Of those present  I knew only one person and after an hour I got to know everyone. This is the merit of the cigar.

Twenty people united by the art of smoking. Twenty people curious as to know how to enjoy a cigar, how to smoke knowing it. You do not smoke a cigar without knowing appreciate. It is not a cigarette that you light up and smoke.

Smoking a cigar is a ritual. Smoking a cigar is culture. Enjoy the sensations that can give you knowledge.

I think I sent them the importance of knowing how to smoke a cigar. Next time I will tell them how to choose the size of cigar and when smoking it.

Un abrazo aficionados.

Following, Italian version.
