Hoyo de Monterrey owes its origin to the plantation of the same name, located in San Juan y Martinez in the heart of the Vuelta Abajo.
The plantation of Hoyo de Monterrey, one of the most famous Vegas de Primera, it is recognized by the inscription on the front door: “Hoyo de Monterrey. José Gener”.
In 1860 Hoyo de Monterrey takes advantage of the fertile soil of the bank of the river that runs through San Juan y Martinez. The name of this Vega was used, for the first time, for this brand of cigars, in 1865.
Its sweet taste reflects the tastes of those who worship a Habano less force, delicate and aromatic, with great elegance and complexity. In 1947 Hoyo de Monterrey began producing the series of Chateaux. What to say even this brand?!?!
In his vitolario stands the Double Coronas (prominentes of cepo 49 mm.194), which together with Lusitanias Partagas, came right in the history of Cuban cigars. A great classic. Who wants to smoke a long, but that does not present a substantial force, will be in the Double Coronas his cigar ideal.

Ma è nel 2005, che Hoyo de Monterrey rivoluziona la tendenza dei formati degli Habanos. Immette infatti sul mercato il Petit Robustos, cepo 50 come il robusto e il gordito, ma di lunghezza minore, mm.102.
Mi ricordo che quando usci rimasi dubbioso. Questo “robustino” non mi convinceva. Mi sbagliavo e di grosso. Divenne subito il sigaro più venduto, portando di li a poco, alla realizzazione del Petit Edmundo di Montecristo, e del Partagas Serie D n.5. Il Petit Robusto è il sigaro ideale. Da la possibilità al fumatore che ha poco tempo a disposizione, di avere una boccata ricca e di durare relativamente poco.
