”Noche Cubana„

Friday, September 12, was held at the prestigious Circolo Canottieri Lazio, the Noche Cubana, an evening dedicated to the island of Cuba.

For a long time I was planning to organize a Cuban event. The idea was to recreate as much as possible, the atmosphere of the Caribbean nights lived in Havana. It was also my intention to pay homage to Cuba and its people.

I had to find a location outdoors, that would allow me to smoke my favorite cigar. So, talking to my dear friend Giovanni Williams, who was also experienced smoker of Cuban cigars, came up with the idea to hold the event at the Circolo Canottieri Lazio, where Giovanni is a member.

Il Circolo Canottieri Lazio is not only a prestigious location, but offers a fantastic setting. In the heart of Rome, the Circolo cradle you in his arms, making you forget the noise and clackons of the eternal city.

It’s not easy to organize an events. You have to think of everything. You have to hope that everything runs smoothly.

The day before the evening, I had gone to Cuba embassy to borrow the flag to be hoisted on the flagpole of the Circolo.

Keep the official flag of Cuba was a great honor for me. It’ll always be proud of. It will be a memory that I will carry with me all my life. I never tire of thanking the Cuban embassy for the confidence placed in me.

Finally arrived the day of the event. Armed with flag I went to the location.

With the help of Giovanni, we found an employee of the club that hoisted the Cuban flag on the flagpole.

We were ready to receive Mrs. Milagros Carina Aguero, Ambassador of Cuba.

The evening began on the notes of a song repertoire of the Cuban classic, masterfully performed by Teresa Lafauries, fantastic singer of Santiago de Cuba.

Those notes brought me back to evenings spent on the patio of the hotel Nacional de Cuba in Havana.

I lit a cigar, a Canonazo for the occasion, and began my wanderings from one table to another, making sure that the guests enjoyed the evening.

The restaurant of the Club had prepared a menu of Cuban delicacies. Somebody, like myself, smoked Cuban cigars.

Teresa entertained the audience with his beautiful voice and his sympathy Caribbean.

Between a table and the other, I found the time to thank Mr. Nicholas Grigis, the Havana Club, which had provided the rum for the event.

I looked at the faces of the people. All appreciated the evening. Everyone was happy. A small corner of Cuba was present in Rome. Had passed on the joy of living.

Many people thanked me for organizing the evening. They did not have to thank me. But Cuba.

They had to thank the authors of the Cuban songs. Teresa that performed for us. They had to thank the Rum masters for the  rum we drunk.They had to thank themasters cigars roller for the cigars we were smoking.

An evening dedicated to Cuba. An unforgettable evening. Not an evening like any other. A MB Elite Events Management

Venerdi 12 settembre  si è svolta, nella prestigiosa sede del Circolo Canottieri Lazio, la Noche Cubana, una serata dedicata all’isola di Cuba.

Da tempo avevo in mente di organizzare un evento cubano.

L’idea era quella di ricreare, per quanto possibile, l’atmosfera caraibica delle notti vissute a l’Avana. Inoltre era mia intenzione rendere omaggio a Cuba ed al suo popolo.

Dovevo trovare una location all’aperto, che mi permettesse di fumare il mio amato sigaro. Cosi, parlando con il mio caro amico Giovanni Williams, anche lui esperto fumatore di sigari cubani,  venne l’idea di organizzare l’evento al Circolo Canottieri Lazio, dove Giovanni è socio.

Il Circolo Canottieri Lazio non solo è un luogo prestigioso, ma offre una cornice fantastica. Nel cuore di Roma, il Circolo ti culla tra le sue braccia, facendoti dimenticare i rumori ed i clackons della città eterna.

Non è una cosa spensierata organizzare eventi. Devi pensare a tutto. Devi sperare che tutto fili liscio.

Il giorno precedente alla serata, mi ero recato al’ambasciata di Cuba per prendere in prestito la bandiera da issare al pennone del Circolo.

Custodire la bandiera ufficiale di Cuba è stato un grande onore per me. Ne sarò sempre fiero. Sarà un ricordo che porterò con me tutta la vita. Non mi stancherò mai di ringraziare l’ambasciata cubana per la fiducia riposta nei miei confronti.

Finalmente era arrivato il giorno dell’evento. Armato di bandiera mi recavo al Circolo.

Grazie all’aiuto di Giovanni, trovammo un dipendente del Circolo che issò la bandiera cubana al pennone.

Eravamo pronti a ricevere la Signora Milagros Carina Aguero, Ambasciatore di Cuba.

La serata cominciò sulle note di una canzone del repertorio classico cubano, magistralmente eseguita da Teresa Lafauries, fantastica cantante di Santiago de Cuba.

Quelle note mi riportarono alle serate trascorse al patio dell’hotel Nacional de Cuba, a l’Avana.

Accesi il sigaro, un canonazo per l’occasione, e cominciai il mio girovagare da un tavolo ad un altro, assicurandomi che gli ospiti godessero della serata.

Il ristorante del Circolo aveva preparato un menu di prelibatezze cubane. Qualcuno, come il sottoscritto, fumava sigari rigorosamente cubani.

Teresa intratteneva il pubblico con la sua splendida voce e la sua simpatia caraibica.

Tra un tavolo e l’altro, trovai il tempo di ringraziare il signor Nicolò Grigis, del Havana Club, che aveva fornito il rum per l’evento.

Guardavo i volti delle persone. Tutti apprezzavano la serata. Tutti erano felici. Un piccolo angolo di Cuba era presente a Roma. Aveva trasmesso la gioia di vivere.

Molte persone mi ringraziavano per l’organizzazione della serata. Non dovevano ringraziare me. Ma Cuba. Dovevano ringraziare gli autori delle canzoni cubane. Teresa che le eseguiva per noi. Dovevano ringraziare i maestri roneri che avevano prodotto il rum. I torcedores che avevano costruito i sigari che stavamo fumando.

Una serata dedicata a Cuba. Una serata indimenticabile.  Non una serata come le altre. Un evento MB Elite Events Management.

Ora tocca me fare i ringraziamenti.

Per primo ringrazio la Signora Milagros Carina Aguero, Ambasciatore di Cuba, per aver partecipato all’evento e prestato la bandiera  ufficiale.

Havana Club, nella figura del Signor Nicolò Grigis, per aver creduto nel progetto.

Al Circolo Canottieri Lazio, per averci gentilmente ospitato, nella sua splendida cornice.

All’amico Giovanni Williams, senza di lui questa serata non si sarebbe realizzata.

Alla bellissima e bravissima Teresa Lafauries, che ha incantato i presenti con la sua esibizione.

A tutti gli ospiti che hanno partecipato.
