Punch is one of the oldest Habanos brands. He was born in the mid-nineteenth century, with the aim of attacking the growing UK market. Hence the choice of the name: Punch.
Punch was the name of a clown star of a satirical magazine English, very famous at that time. And Mr. Punch still appears in the center of the view of the famous Cuban brand, with its curious headdress and smoking cigar between his lips.
In 1931, Punch moved to the factory that produced the Hoyo de Monterrey. Today, the two brands have their headquarters in La Corona factory in Havana.
The characteristic flavor of Punch, which presents a mean force, is processed with a ligada composed tripa and capote leaves from the area of the Vuelta Abajo.
The entire range of vitolas is processed Totalmente a Mano with Tripa Larga.
We speak now of his cigars. The corona gordas (cepo 46 mm. 143) is a format that favors Punch. In the past, he was producing four of them. Now, however, is limited to two: the Royal Selection n. 11 and the famous Punch Punch.

The Double Coronas (prominentes, cepo 49 mm.194) is another cigar worthy of note. Presents the characteristics of the brand, approaching the Royal Selection n. 11.

Punch è una della marche di Habanos più antiche. Nacque nella metà del XIX secolo, con lo scopo di attaccare il crescente mercato inglese. Da qui la scelta del nome: Punch.
Punch era il nome di un pagliaccio protagonista di una rivista satirica inglese, molto famoso in quel periodo. E il signor Punch ancora oggi compare al centro della vista della famosa marca cubana, con il suo curioso copricapo ed il sigaro fumante tra le labbra.
Nel 1931, Punch si trasferì nella fabbrica dove si producevano gli Hoyo de Monterrey. Oggi le due marche hanno la loro sede nella fabbrica de La Corona, a l’Avana.
Il caratteristico sapore di Punch, che presenta una forza media, viene elaborato con una ligada composta da foglie di tripa e capote provenienti dalla zona della Vuelta Abajo.

Ritengo che il Royal Selection n.11 sia un sigaro passato alla storia. Uno di quelli che non scordi mai, come recita una nota canzone di Vasco Rossi. Ha un sapore vagamente terroso e speziato. Bello nel suo cabinet in legno grezzo da 25 unità, tenute insieme da un nastro di raso giallo. Un masterpiece. Sapeste quanti ne ho fumati.
Nonostante tutto, questo sigaro non viene più importato in Italia. Un vero peccato!
Il Punch Punch è un sigaro per tutte le occasioni. Meno consistente del Royal Selection n.11, si presenta nella classica scatola con i sigari disposti su due file, divise da un foglio di cedro. Da qualche anno, viene venduto anche in colorati tubi di alluminio, molto belli a vedersi.

Quando vedi fumare qualcuno un Double Corona di Punch, stai pur certo che ne ha di cose da raccontare relative al mondo degli Habanos. Avvicinati a lui e limitati ad ascoltare ciò che dice. Ne avrai solamente da imparare.
